Doug: Doug smiles when he sees Annie's reply. He quietly climbs the stairs, knocking on her door. "Ann?"
Annie: "What?" She calls out, she was off of her computer doing yoga in the middle of her bedroom floor.
Doug: He opens the door. "I was just coming to check on you. Are you busy?"
Annie: "No, Not really." She was resting on her forearms, her legs above her head, she motions to her bed for him to sit, "What?"
Doug: He watches her for a moment. "You okay?" He sits on the bed, noticing the unopened book. "Ann?"
Annie: She lets her legs fall on either side of her head, the rest of her bodycoming fully up to look at him, "I'm fine." She nods
Doug: "Looks painful. I couldn't bend like that." He's trying to make conversation, wanting to just be near her.
Annie: "You should try it some time." She nods, "It's relaxing." She smiles a little, "Maybe not that, because that... probably wouldn't help your back much."
Doug: He chuckles. "Calling me old again?"
Annie: She glances to him, "No." She shakes her head, sitting next to him.
Doug: He smiles a little. "Want some dinner?"
Annie: "What is it?"
Doug: He smiles. "I made spagetti with Gus earlier."
Annie: "Gus likes to help with things." She nods, "Yeah, I'll have some."
Doug: He smiles. "We kept you a plate in the oven."
Annie: "Why didn't you call me down when it was dinner time?" She looks at him.
Doug: "I did. You were ignoring me." He's quiet.
Annie: "I didn't hear you." She shakes her head a little.
Doug: "Oh." He looks at her. "Come eat then."
Annie: She gets up, walking to the hall and glancing around for her brother before she slides down the railing.
Doug: "He's in bed." He follows her.
Annie: "Yeah, I know, but it doesn't hurt to check." She nods.
Doug: He pulls her plate out. "Milk?"
Annie: She nods, watching him, eating slowly.
Doug: He brings her a glass, sitting with her. "I did love Sadie."
Annie: She gives him a look, he was starting to talk about the past and she didn't want to, "Good for you."
Doug: He looks at her. "We could get a new dog."
Annie: "I was going to get a new dog when I got to Boston." She glances to him.
Doug: "In the dorm?"
Annie: "In my apartment." She nods.
Doug: "You have an apartment. I forgot. Have you furnished it?"
Annie: She nods, "You can come and see it once in a while if you'd like."
Doug: He smiles. "I have some meetings in Boston. How big is the apartment?"
Annie: "Wouldn't you like to know." She smirks.
Doug: He ruffles her hair. "Well, I'm paying the bill."
Annie: "Yes, That is true." She nods, "It has three levels and it's huge, how's that for a description?"
Doug: He smiles. "So it's big enough for Daddy to visit?"
Annie: "Yes." She nods with a little smile.
Doug: He grins. "Near a tennis court?"
Annie: "No, but there's a basketball court nearby." She nods.
Doug: He shakes his head. "We'll find a club somewhere."
Annie: "I'm not much of a tennis player." She takes a drink.
Doug: He nods. "Your mom liked it. I learned."
Annie: "Liked tennis?"
Doug: He smiles. "She loves it."
Annie: She nods, "She does, I know."
Doug: He looks at her. "You remember how to play?"
Annie: "Yes." She nods, "I just don't think I'm very good at it."
Doug: He chuckles. "We should play for money."
Annie: "Ah." She laughs a little, "It'd be your money anyway, so what's the difference."
Doug: He laughs, pleased she's amused. "You don't want extra money? Scared?"
Annie: "Am I really ever really scared?" She raises an eyebrow.
Doug: "I hope not."
Annie: "No, I'm not." She smiles, "We'll play for money."
Doug: He laughs. "Daddy will win." He collects her empty plate. "More?"
Annie: She shakes her head, "No, Thank you." She smiles, "What is it with you, you always think you can win against me."
Doug: "Dessert?" He rinses her plate and loads it. "I know I can."
Annie: She shakes her head, "Is this going to be like... Billie Jean King and that other guy?"
Doug: He smirks. "I'm not Bobbie Riggs."
Annie: "Yes you are." She giggles, pointing at him a little, "That's exactly who you are."
Doug: He laughs, bringing her an apple. "Nah."
Annie: She laughs a little, "Looser buys winner a puppy that she can take back with her to Boston."
Doug: He laughs. "What if winner buys the loser her puppy?"
Annie: "Either or, Mr. Riggs." She smiles.
Doug: He grins. "What type?"
Annie: "I don't know. Just, Not a chihuahua." She shakes her head.
Doug: He nods. "You know a golden retriever wouldn't do well in an apartment." He's thinking of Sadie.
Annie: "Dad, Really, It's a huge apartment. No one lives above or below me."
Doug: He nods. "I know, but dogs like that need big yards."
Annie: "Yeah, but I want something huge that can jump on me and push me down." She nods.
Doug: He sighs. "We'll get something like that for the house?"
Annie: "No, You'll have a baby to deal with, that probably wouldn't be such a great idea." She sighs, "I'll get something small that I can carry."
Doug: He shakes his head. "What about a middle sized dog? A cockerspanial or something?"
Annie: "Why not something I can carry?" She smiles.
Doug: "Because you don't need a stupid little dog."
Annie: "Dad!" She looks at him, "My dog will not be a stupid dog... It will be Jedi trained." She nods, "How about a pit bull?"
Doug: "Those dogs are dumb. The little outfits and things? No self-respecting dog." He shakes his head. "No pit bull."
Annie: "We'll go, and if something pulls me to them, you'll buy it for me. No matter what kind it is." She nods.
Doug: "As long as it won't eat you in your sleep. Want to go tomorrow?"
Annie: She nods, "I want a dog."
Doug: "No goldfish?" He's grinning.
Annie: "Yeah cause I can see myself taking a goldfish to the park to play." She nods.
Doug: "Tiny little leash." He make hand motions.
Annie: She laughs a little, "I could do that with a hamster too."
Doug: He nods. "I thought about one of those for Gus, when the baby comes."
Annie: Annie shakes her head, "He'll kill it."
Doug: "A goldfish?"
Annie: "He'd forget about it." She nods, "And a hamster he'd squeeze to death."
Doug: He nods. "Maybe I'll get a retriever for the farm?"
Annie: She nods, "Like I said, just wait until the baby is born... It'd probably be better."
Doug: He nods. "I'll take you tomorrow."
